After the great success of our Workshop-Tour in 2009, Serrinha is coming back to Europe to offer more workshops.

Because of our very good experiences with the team-workshop, we decided to offer only combined workshops with Serrinha and Chris in 2010. The combination: Serrinha for Caixa, Repique, Surdo and Chris for Tamborim, Chocalho turned out to be an ideal team.
Workshops can be booked to suit your group throughout the month of MAY and JUNE 2010.

Serrinha Raiz is the caixa director of the Sambaschools Unidos da Tijuca, Estácio de Sá and Unidos de Padre Miguel and he also leads his own carnival bloco in Rio de Janeiro. He is widely known as one of "the best" caixa players in Rio de Janeiro, and he is a very nice person with a modest character. Chris travels to Rio every year during the carnival season and since 2004 he has played the tamborim at Unidos da Tijuca, and it was here that he developed his relationship with Serrinha. Chris is known for organising Serrinha workshops for tourists whilst in Brazil.
In January/February this year they developed a unique system together to lead workshops by. Attention will be focussed on developing the special techniques of the different instruments. Chris is a specialist on the tamborim and will teach both 3:1 and 2:1 "turning" techniques (carreteiro) and special rhythmic lines, while Serrinha will take care of all the other instruments.
The workshop aim and content will be considered separately to suit the styles and demands of each band.
